OUR FAMILY

OWNER
Gary founded Humphreys’ Gun Shop in Del Rio in 1973 and has spent more than five decades serving hunters, ranchers, sportsmen, collectors, and families across Val Verde County and beyond.
Born and raised in Del Rio, Gary became known not only as a gunsmith and business owner, but as a steady presence within the local shooting and outdoor community. Through the years, Humphreys’ Gun Shop has remained one of the few longstanding independent gun shops in the state, built through relationships, reputation, and a deep knowledge of firearms and South Texas history.
Outside the shop, Gary has spent many years mentoring young shooters through the Val Verde 4-H Shooting Sports program, helping guide multiple state-level teams and individual competitors. His influence on youth shooting sports in the area spans generations.
When he’s not at the shop, he enjoys mornings at Benny’s Café, time spent with family, and driving his 1929 Model A pickup around Del Rio.

GENERAL MANAGER
Holly represents the second generation of leadership at Humphreys’ Gun Shop, the Del Rio family business founded by her father, Gary Humphreys, in 1973.
In recent years, Holly has played a central role in stabilizing and modernizing the business while helping preserve the shop’s longstanding place within the Del Rio community and Southwest Texas. Her work has included operational management, financial restructuring, digital modernization, marketing, and long-term continuity planning for the next chapter of the business.
Outside the shop, Holly has remained active in the shooting sports community for more than two decades. She competes nationally in both 50m smallbore and 10m air rifle, including appearances at the Olympic Trials, Junior Olympic Nationals and Champion of Champions competitions. In 2007, she won the Texas 4-H State Championship in smallbore rifle and continues to support youth and adult participation in the shooting sports today.
Professionally, Holly also works in financial services marketing and holds both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Business Administration.
Through her writing project, The Caliche, Holly writes about Texas heritage, shooting culture, and life inside a long-standing family gun shop.
Customer parking is available at 111 Wall Street, just a short walk directly across the street from the shop.
